The Independent Shortlisted for Commercial Team of the Year at Campaign Media Awards

Independent Advertising was this week honoured to be shortlisted as one of Campaign Media Award’s “Best of the Best” in the Commercial Team of the Year category. The nomination comes despite the backdrop of hugely challenging circumstances faced in 2021. The Independent’s 35thbirthday year saw the brand not only survive, but thrive, as the team grew revenues by 41% and operating profit by 103%.

Campaign noted the innovation seen at The Independent this year. Through creating Independent Advertising, embarking on landmark audience studies, articulating the proposition with a new bold strapline around positive action, homing in on its unique strengths, commercial diversification and compelling solutions (launching the Ignite business and focusing on Independent TV) – as well as supercharging the team – The Independent came out of 2021 stronger than ever and primed for another record-breaking year doing the things that it has always done best – disrupting, innovating, empowering and making change happen.

Commenting on the nomination, Andrew Morley, Chief Revenue Officer, said: “Our commercial team is thrilled to have our innovation recognised by such a prestigious award, especially given the challenges of 2021.
