Today we are collating The Independent’s recent run of award wins and nominations across our commercial and editorial teams, announcing our partnership with eCommerce service Bolt and welcoming new senior members of The Independent’s commercial team.
The Independent has had a fantastic year of award nods so far this year. This has included taking home trophies from The Drum Awards for Online Media, the AOP Digital Publishing Awards and the British Society for Magazine Editors, alongside countless nominations.

This week, Campaign also selected The Independent’s Sophie Heaphy (Digital Agency Sales Manager) as one of its Faces to Watch list for 2022. This venerable list highlights Campaign’s pick of the industry’s most impressive rising stars.
It was also announced this week that The Independent has been shortlisted for three awards at the London Press Club Awards and in four categories in the Society of Editors’ Media Freedom Awards, including foreign correspondent of the year for the incredible Bel Trew.

The Independent welcomes two new senior hires to its commercial team. Advertising Operations Director Meena Miles will work with CRO Andrew Morley and his team to lay down the structures for The Independent to continue its journey of expansion. Meanwhile, Jordan Scott becomes The Independent’s Head of Tech Operations. Reporting to Meena, Jordan will work to streamline The Independent’s technology systems, driving innovation with its partners.

The Independent has announced a new partnership with leading checkout technology company Bolt, transforming its eCommerce offering and the way readers shop for their favourite brands.
The launch is the first such partnership for a UK news brand and the latest move in The Independent’s successful growth strategy, as it builds on another year of record profit by further diversifying revenue streams and increasing its market-leading eCommerce proposition.
